RPW Design Announces Changes to the Board

RPW Design is proud to announce that Mrs Ariane Steinbeck has been appointed as its new Managing Director. Jan Wilson, the current Managing Director who founded RPW in 1988, will become President and continue her close involvement with the internationally renowned Hospitality Interior Design practice. Ariane will be commuting between Hong Kong and London in the upcoming months until she moves to London with her family in September.

Ariane was a founding partner of The Gettys Group in Chicago, Illinois, USA which she is leaving after 26 years of service and leadership. Ariane established and championed the firms’ Asia-Pacific operations for the past 8 years, based in Hong Kong, with an additional office in Manila, Philippines. Her distinguished clients have included Hong Kong and Shanghai Hotels - notably the recent Peninsula Hong Kong refurbishment; Shangri-La Hotels, Kerry Properties, Hong Kong Jockey Club, Marriott , Hilton and numerous other high-profile hotel and residential assignments. Her most recent work has seen her and her team’s design expertise expand from Hong Kong into project work in Mainland China, Macau, Morocco, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Russia.

Jan Wilson said, “The timing of the management transition to a new generation is a key decision for RPW, and I believe in Ariane we have been fortunate to find someone with the experience, international reputation, drive and enthusiasm which will build on RPW’s considerable track record. Ariane Steinbeck - Biography

Ariane Steinbeck – started her career as one of the founding partners of The Gettys Group, Inc, headquartered in the USA.

Her primary responsibility was the evolution of the firm’s interior design business, focusing on luxury and upscale hotels, restaurants, spas, and residential projects.

Originally working in Chicago, she established the firm’s Miami offices (serving the Caribbean and South America) and also founded Gettys’ Asia-Pacific Headquarters in Hong Kong, with the subsequent expansion to Manila. She was further responsible for Business Development activities in the MENA market, including Saudi Arabia, and leading the firm’s design vision in these varied regions.

Ariane was educated at the Deutsche Schule der Provinz Malaga, Marbella, Spain and Cornell University, Ithaca, New York where she received a Bachelors of Science degree from the distinguished School of Hotel Administration.

She has a number of professional and international certifications and memberships, speaks three European languages fluently and enjoys writing articles for industry publications. Her profound interest in all things culinary, artisanal and globetrotting manifests her passion for the hospitality industry.

She is a frequent speaker at hotel industry events and has a particular fondness for mentoring and helping her staff grow professionally and personally. She is married with 2 sons and will be relocating to London UK in the summer of 2015.
